It’s no surprise that you’ll notice seasonal condensation on the exterior window pane resulting from drastic temperature changes, which is why it’s important to note that your windows aren’t causing the condensation--but rather, it’s environmental factors.

If you replace old windows with new impact windows and doors in your home, condensation is likely to result due to moisture imbalances because they create a stronger seal for your home, keeping moisture inside.

There are three places where condensation may form on your window:

  • The interior glass pane

  • The exterior glass pane

  • In between the glass panes

No need to panic! The most common form of condensation is on the interior window pane because it’s a result of excessive moisture in your home, and it’s an easy fix.

Exterior window condensation is also normal and results from your window or door being cooler than the ambient dew point.

However, condensation that builds between the glass panes is a result of the seal between the panes being broken or the desiccant inside being saturated. In either case, the window or door is faulty and should be replaced.

If your interior glass pane has condensation forming on it, then we’ve got 3 simple solutions you should try.

3 Solutions to Fix Interior Window Condensation

1. Eliminate or reduce the moisture in your home by turning down your humidifier and purchasing a moisture absorbing product, such as Damprid.

2. Utilize your bathroom and kitchen fans to improve circulation especially when you’re running a hot shower/bath or cooking.

3. Open your windows and doors every now and then to help with the moisture imbalance and keep your window and door coverings sufficiently open.
