The Ultimate Checklist For Window Installation Day

blank-business-checklist-357863You have found the perfect windows for your home and it is finally time to install them. Installation day is often an exciting time for many homeowners, and there are likely several last-minute items you may be thinking about, such as

  • Is your home ready for them?
  • What should you expect?
  • Have you planned everything accordingly?

When window installation day rolls around, your home will likely become a little busier. However, proper preparation can help make it a relatively seamless experience.

5 Tips to Prepare for Window Installation Day

There are some steps you can take to best prepare for window installation day including the following five tips to prepare for yours.

1: Remove your window treatments

Taking down your window treatments (blinds, curtains, alarms, etc.) in advance can exponentially make installing your new windows a much more efficient process. Having to take time to remove these treatments at the last minute is often the most common cause of delays as it can sometimes take hours to do depending on your window treatments.

2: Create a clear workspace around your windows

A good, general rule of thumb would be to create about 5-feet of space around the windows you are having replaced. While your installers can help clear the area and help move things around, it can help make the process more efficient if it is done ahead of time.

3: Plan ahead for kids and pets

There will be a lot of moving parts and materials, so it is important to make plans in advance for your kids or pets. This helps ensure their safety and causes less disruption to the installation process.

4: Do a walk-through

You should request and plan a walk-through with your contractor to ensure everything was properly installed and give you a chance to learn how your windows work and how to best maintain and clean them. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions regarding any potential issues that you feel may arise.

5: Call your contractor a few days ahead of installation day

No matter how much you plan and prepare, there may be times when something gets overlooked. Call your contractor or window installer a few days before installation day to see if there are any special instructions you should know about or ask any last-minute questions to ensure everyone is on the same page and installation day is a smooth process.

Feel Confident on Window Installation Day

Installing new windows in your home is often an exciting process. However, installation day can be time-consuming or frustrating without proper planning and preparation. You should feel confident that everyone will be safe and that the process will be timely.
